Planning a Concrete Patio for a New Home in Central Ohio

Plan furniture, door connections, access and questions for your builder before requesting a concrete patio quote for your new Central Ohio home.

A new home may give you a backyard without much space to sit or gather. Before choosing a patio shape, work out what you want to do there and what already exists. A useful first plan can be a sketch with notes, not a finished design.

Put the furniture on the sketch first

Mark a table with chairs pulled out, a grill area and any separate seating. Draw the route from the house and leave room to move between those uses. If you already own furniture, include its approximate dimensions. This gives the conversation a purpose beyond choosing a square footage.

Show the existing landing and doorway

Take a wide photograph from the back door and another facing the house. Include any landing, steps, builder-installed path or adjacent concrete. Mark the parts you hope to retain and those you want to discuss changing. A picture of a favorite patio cannot explain these connections by itself.

Gather the documents you already have

A site plan, builder drawings or association information may help identify questions that need attention. Ask who should review the proposed location and whether approvals are needed for the particular property. Do not assume that a neighbor’s approval or a generic online layout applies to your home.

Photograph the route into the yard

Include gates, side-yard access and nearby features you want to preserve. Point out places where water collects or other conditions you have noticed. These observations help describe the site; the construction approach still needs review.

Compare real finish examples

Look at Plain City patio photos, Sunbury stamped-patio examples and decorative work in Delaware. These are location-associated AMGS collections, not a claim that the photographed properties were new homes. Compare them with our guide to concrete finishes.

Prepare a useful estimate request

Send your city, a rough layout, photographs and the finish ideas you like. State which measurements are approximate and include any removal needs. Approximate measurements are fine; include them with your form request. Explore our concrete patio service, then request a patio quote.
